About Dim Dim

Located at 2820 S Wentworth Ave, Chicago, IL 60616, Dim Dim operates as a chinese bbq serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8:30 AM–8 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (312) 842-2822. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is dimdimchicago.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 472 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Went with family for my mother in law’s birthday, including her 95 year old mother. Not only was the food bland and tasteless, one of the employees who probably didn’t think we could hear had the nerve to say, β€œhurry up and leave” under her breath in Cantonese as my 95 year old grandmother-in-law slowly made her way to the door. There are much better dim sum options in the area. Don’t make the mistake of patronizing this restaurant.

My Mom recommended this place for our 4th of July lunch and it was our first time there. I like that there was parking outside and inside has lots of seating. The varieties in the menu was awesome too. We had dim sum and was able to order regular traditional Chinese dishes. Price was decent and food was delicious! The only reason why I didn't give a 5 star review was the front desk lady. I decided to get some bao buns for home and boy she was rude. I must not be a regular enough since this was my first time there. I made a point to say thank you several times with a smile and she ignore all several time, no eye contact, nothing. Rude as heck. Like she was mad at me but pleasant to all the regulars. She made me feel so bad that 1 star deduction wasn't even enough given I spent $200 for lunch with bao buns and this is the attitude I get. Worst front desk ever. I think she might actually be the owner. This is how you treat paying customers. First impressions really matter.

I must mention this restaurant that is quaint, yet super clean and elegant. A fine establishment with very high-quality food service atmosphere and leadership. I felt like I was in Hong Kong, and I had to brush up on my Cantonese a little bit. Hands down of genuinely wonderful experience that I must repeat soon and I highly recommend everyone to check it out and it’s no secret. There was a large American group dining there. I was very happy to see that.

My family loves coming here for dim sum and dinner. This time we went for dinner and enjoyed every dish. Sauteed pork stomach/intestine was so good but be sure to tell them to use less salt. The honey cashew shrimp is like crack -- very sweet and addictive.

Seating:4 Service:5 Food: 5 Price: $ Great delicious food at very reasonable price. This is like the kitchen of our entire family and extended family. We visit here every week. They have so many good dishes. You can order the popular dim sum during brunch hours. Parking is convenient, there are spaces in front of this strip mall. Favorites: Free range chicken - best in the area. Fried Beef Short Ribs - best in the area. Dim Dim special stir fry - chives, anchovies, dried squid, topped with peanut Clam in black beans sauce, Pea sprout with fried egg tofu Honey walnut shrimp - my favorite The large oysters are about $4 each. Tip: call to order from them directly and pick up yourself if you can speak Chinese. It's cheaper to get from them directly than through a third party.
